Ed Kravitz, Esq.
Owner | CEO | Certified MLB Agent
“I spent the vast majority of my formative years playing baseball… I’ve been passionate about the game of baseball since I started playing when I was five years old and remain passionate and dedicated to this day to the game and the players who play it.” Ed was born in Washington, D.C. and traveled to many places while his father was active duty Air Force. Living in the Philippines, North Dakota, Spain, California (all before he was 12 years old) led Ed to have a very cultural and diverse world view. He has called Tampa Bay, Florida home since 1976, but as an adult he has also lived in St. Louis, Germany, and Pennsylvania before returning to Florida in 1997. With that said, however, Ed is essentially a native Floridian.
“I have a deep drive to be successful in what we do because I know the more successful we are, the more our players will benefit. I push myself and everyone at KPT Sports to achieve and to help our clients get the best possible results.” Ed is known for his exhaustive research and preparation as well as his innate talent for analyzing complex situations and coming up with creative solutions. Ed has mediated and arbitrated cases for hundreds of clients. While it is important to have and maintain great relationships with teams as well as important decision makers, Ed has the mindset of the player’s perspective and always doing what is in the player’s best interest. “I am unwavering in my pursuit of fighting for the players who play the game.”
Ed’s training and 16 years of experience as an attorney also gives him the essential skills required in this demanding industry to aggressively and effectively negotiate contracts with the best possible outcomes for the players we represent.
Ed’s professional highlights include:
• Extensive understanding of the current (2012-2016) Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the MLB (Owners) and the MLB Players Association (MLBPA)
• Licensed Athlete Agent by the State of Florida (#AA887)
• Member of: Sports Lawyers Association; SABR (Society of American Baseball Researchers)
Ed was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1997 after graduating from Widener University School of Law (J.D., 1997) and serving as a board member, editor, and business manager of the Widener University Law Review. Ed graduated from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville (B.A., 1991) in Political Science and Business Administration. After high school, Ed served in the United States Air Force from 1984 to 1988.
